“I liked Augustus Waters. I really, really, really liked him. I liked the way his story ended with someone else. I liked his voice. I liked that he took existentially fraught free throws. I liked that he was a tenured professor in the Department of Slightly Crooked Smiles with a dual appointment in the Department of Having a Voice That Made My Skin Feel More Like Skin.
So, if you ever feel as if your day has gone to crap and it can’t get any worse, here is a friendly reminder that it can:
I was on my way into the city with my boyfriend. I discovered I had forgot my head phones. No big deal, it just meant I didn’t have music for the ride. We talked, and I showed him funny pictures on my phone. Next thing we know, we are at our stop. I shove my phone in my pocket, and hurry to get off before the doors close on us. Some random creep then grabs my ass. I scoot off the EL, and my boyfriend and I laugh about what a douche he was.
Next thing I know, we are walking around, laughing, holding hands, and just having a great time. We stop for something to eat, and sit for a while. At which time I go to check my phone. Lo and behold, it was gone. I had put it in my BACK pocket. So when the douche grabbed my ass it wasn’t just assault. It was theft as well. I call and get the service suspended, and then call my family to inform them, and get bitched out about it
We head home, and I face the fam, explain what happened, and start looking for new phones. In the midst of all this, we decide to go out for dinner. We head out to a restaurant that is normally really good. I get super excited about the food, but when it comes it tastes wrong. And then I get food poisoning.
So, to recap for you, I got groped, got my phone stolen, got bitched out, and then got food poisoning. It can ALWAYS be worse.
“I remember everything about you,” says Peeta, tucking a loose strand of hair behind my ear. “You’re the one who wasn’t paying attention.”
"I was a weirdo. I wasn’t picked on or anything. And I wasn’t smarter than the other kids; that’s not why I didn’t fit in. I’ve always had this weird anxiety. I hated recess. I didn’t like field trips. Parties really stressed me out. And I had a very different sense of humour."
“So that’s who Finnick loves. Not his string of fancy lovers in the Capitol. But a poor, mad girl back home.”- (requested by anonymous)
